A prisoner at Lara’s Barwon Prison is spending the night at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne after being flown by Air Ambulance on Wednesday afternoon.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said the injuries are “possibly life-threatening” after being called alongside Paramedics to the incident around 3:15pm.
It comes during a tumultuous time for the facility with a number of staff and inmates injured in the past months.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said two men were treated for upper body injuries.
No staff were injured according to the Department of Justice and Community Safety.
